Vancouver 1912. A sheltered, determined young nurse and her streetwise partner, whose passion is forensics, struggle to establish themselves as the city’s first female police officers while navigating prejudice, one another, then – in defiance of orders – heading underground to hunt down a vigilante serial killer.

An awkward eighteen-year-old who lives to make films is stubbornly silent when interrogated by savvy detectives about a missing boy – his only friend – but his memories, fantasies, film footage, and an unexpected visitor unlock the secrets he holds close to protect the girl of his dreams and, finally, himself.
